I absolutely LOVE this type of art form. I have always had the desire to widdle, let alone work with wood as a medium. I want to carve images into a big chair one day. Got to start somewhere, I should probably start with a branch.

This female truly inspires me. Love her style let alone, approach to life. I LOVE industrial mixed with earthy touches, especially in a home/business/surroundings. I love inlaid wood work. Truly this is an incredible art form, she nails it perfectly.

{This all began as the adventure of a lifetime, and it was. Taking a sixteen foot truck across the country, my dearest friend AMELIE and I drove for nine days, stopping at abandoned diners, farms, junk stores, and anywhere else our love of the old and decrepit told us to stop. We arrived in California with a truck full of barn wood and old chairs, and that's where I began my six month journey of building and designing an entire restaurant from scratch -- building the bar and thirty tables myself! Having successfully completed the build, and with the restaurant up and running -- full every night! -- I returned to Brooklyn and am continuing my life of designing, creating, inventing, finding, thrifting, and building something everyday}.

I’m a builder, a fixer, and a do-it-myselfer. My favorite things in life are big tools, old wood, good pasta, and dumpster diving. Horses and Foxes.

My dad and I went to track some foxes yesterday. He found their den a couple of days ago. While we were walking up the hill towards the den, I saw a fox in the distance in the middle of a big field wagging it's tale. We later on eventually confronted it. Pure magic. Then we walked over to visit our friends on this hidden ranch. The horses warmed up to us and wanted to be nuzzled and loved. I love it that my dad is a true rancher, he knows animals well and they seem to just love him. Horses and foxes are striking creatures, I want one of each one day.

I know how random I am with what I blog about. Next random thing: My personal Mormon scriptures.

I just got a new set yesterday. I have happiness just holding them. I love personalizing EVERYTHING. But scriptures is a whole other thing. I find that marking the amazing treasures I find inside so therapeutic. I found on my mission that ribbons make the best bookmarks. I love so many books, but nothing fills my soul with goodness like these two books. They have a power beyond words. I can't not never read them. They are so cute and little. Anyway.... I am a skully loving scripture girl.

Little touches around my room make me so happy. The simplest things make me happy. Like yummy fizzy Izzies, Bowie Faces, red lips, Stevie, poached turnips, my random little doll drawings, my windowsill seat with my treasures placed on it, and last but not least my darling fox pillow Rolland gave to me. I love life and all it's little touches. I have no reason to be ungrateful one bit.

I had yet another wonderful trip. I got to see my favorite man in the world, introduce my man to my fam (which went incredibly well!), and got a break of the snow. The pictures say the rest.....

Sandals, ferris wheels, and Balboa Island.

Went to Orange, one of the largest antique towns in the country. I found this new little world of yummy Chalk dolls. I have to go back and get these two indians. But I did purchase this darling little persian girl. She seriously is a new treasure of mine. I love the history of chalk dolls. They put this almost glass cut glitter on them. Sadly most of the glitter came off of my treasure. But I just adore her!

Last couple of weeks I have purchased the most incredible vinlys: Jimi Hendrix, Rainbow, Stevie Nicks, Mos Def, The Who. And I just added these two (The Doors and The Greatful Dead) gems to my collection. It was so cool I pulled out the Greatful Dead vinly to check out if there was any scratches and out came this massive circular sticker that has the skeleton on it. It's sooo old. I'm super glad it was left for me.

Rolland and I then got to make me some more t shirts. I sold 80% percent of the ones he sent to me for my show. I got to watch the process. Soooo not simple. So people, these t shirts are like a piece of art work. Rolland got frustrated at me for selling them for $30. He made me promise $40 and up. After making them with him, I will not renounce this request.

We made this one for me, I got to pick out yummy candy colors. Love.

By far the most fascinating part of my trip was watching Rolland create, and work his business. I got to see and help him in his process of making customized piece of art: wearable art. He had to make t-shirts featuring the Rolling Stones, The Doors, David Bowie, and Bob Dylan. I got to pic the David Bowie images, which made me one happy girl. I watched him adjust them on the graphic design program, and then watch him burn the images onto silkscreens. Then I got to watch the best part, image by image he placed the pictures on the t shirts and silk screened them. Signed them. Layer by layer process. I am so attracted to this man for so many reasons but to watch this....... I was in awe. He is so amazing.

We also got to have our Valentine outing together which was very romantic. He took me to this fancy Japanese restaurant, and then for desert we went to a lounge that over looked downtown LA. I have so much fun with him. I am constantly laughing, so do the annoying waitress who wait on us.

Oh Seattle, I have missed you. It was such a fun trip. It felt so long. It's so good to be home. The first day we arrived all I did was find treasures and taste such good food. It was super sunny and 50 degrees! Crazy huh? I got me some glittered Dr. Martins, the coolest LP's (Vinyl's which I will blog about later), Butter nail polish, and other goodies. I got to see my best friend Brooke, we had a lot of fun. I miss her. She took me to a yummy cool restaurant called "Blue Horse Tavern," and to the Troll under the bridge. I have always wanted to go there ever since I saw "10 Things I Hate About You" (one of my fav teenage flicks), and she came to my funny little art show. Then my folks and I got on a mini cruise and headed over to British Columbia.... VICTORIA! It was pure magic. Honestly the tree's in the northwest give me the chills and make my heart so happy. It's the most tantalizing part of the earth. Mysterious, haunting, beautiful, and majestic. We had a tea party and saw the Butchart Gardens. It was lovely. My dad felt so awkward at the tea party till he ate the food, after that he couldn't stop admitting how magical it all was. Haha only a real man could admit that!

After that of course, was my art show. It was funny. My art kept falling down! Dumb M3 hooks wouldn't stick to the wall, it was all we were allowed to use. I had some sweet supporters who came from Oregon to support me, meant so much to me. Rolland was disappointed that he was too busy to come, so the day of, he sent me a surprise package full of two different t shirts with MY artwork on them. How ROMANTIC is that??! No one can compare to that man, no one can deliver like him at all! I'm ruined for life just by knowing him.

After Seattle, we drove to Montana to see my sweet Grandpa and Aunt Debbie, I LOVE her so much! And my love for my sweet 90 year old grandpa just keeps growing. My parents were super sweet with their support! We felt like it was the last vaca together, just us three. It was magical. Seattle you are a unique city, very grundge and authentic. I love you.

I am SO loving this music right now, the genre, the artwork, oh the 70's and it's glamorous Rockness!

I have to do a special blog for Gwen Stefani. I was listening to a couple of songs of hers this morning,

"Harijuku Girls," and "What You Waiting For." A flood of memories came back to me. I remember right after high school, I so refused to go to college so I decided to do Hair School- I know right? I was into plantinum blonde hair, and of course Gwen Stefani. I remember when her first solo album came out as well as her collaboration with LeSportSac. I became obsessed "What You Waiting For" video. I Purchased my first L.A.M.B bag and heirloom jacket from her line. I was so inspired by her. And thats when it all began, my drawing obsession. All I did in Hair School was draw faces, and Alice in Wonderland drawings. And at that time, I knew that drawing was all I ever wanted to do. I soon left hair school and drew constantly after that. Never did I ever imagine I would get into a Art Gallery!! Dreams do come true. Gwen inspired me, and still to this day do I hear the phrase "WHAT YOU WAITING FOR"!! Gwen and her inspirational approach to everything is so fascinating to me. I remember when she explained her love for Alice in Wonderland and I soon came to understand her fascination about the whole idea of it. So thank you Gweny Gwen Gwen for your colorful inspirations, beautiful blonde hair and bright lipsticks.... You inspired me long ago to do great colorful creative things!!

When I first saw this woman's art, I completely melted. I can't tell you how much I LOVE her style, and vision. She has inspired me with my already quirky random approach to art. She has given me permission to be a free spirited quirky artist even more. It's such joy when finding new art, and artists. She came into my life at the perfect timing.

She has collaborated with many a great visionaries such as: Gibo, Marella, Louis Vuitton, Mulberry, Peter Jensen, Loewe, Versace, Marine Sitbon, and Jaeger Boutique. Below the pictures of her art are pics of her and her home. As I look at these photos I get super excited and curious as to what my home will look like one day, even my hair. I will have candy color hair one day, I will.

Another Wonderland

I finished! This one was a beast. It's 54x55. This painting has a lot of symbolism for me, as it should be. I am so sad though. I tried to hurry and paint just in time to get it custom framed before the gallery. But sadly the frame is so big it cant even fit in the car. Can you believe that!?? Oh well, that means I can keep it longer. When I paint something that is close to my heart and takes a laaaarge amount of time, it's so hard to see it go- or not have it for me alone. Alas. I always used to draw the Jabberwockey and Alice with the sworple sword on my journals, and for people on my mission. Alice in her armor and sword has a lot of symbolism for me. The Jabberwocky alone speaks to me. I love the peom!! I had a companion, Sister Labass, who would quote it for me on command when I needed a break from the monotony of the mission field. When I shared what Alice symbolized for me with others, they would always want there own little Alice in her armor. This painting can be for my own daughters one day... that is if she doesn't sell for a very LARGE amount of money. This baby is super detailed, took me a long time to draw, paint, and glitter. But oh my, it is just so much fun!!

Got back from LA late saturday night. Oh my gosh, I had the time of my life. I took some fun photos on Instagram (I finally gave into damn Instagram), so if you wanna see the fun photos I took through out my trip check it out. Anyway, below are pics of a place my heart longs for. The man I'm seeing took me to a store he knew I would absolutley LOVE. He told me it's where all the posh rockstars shop. I have to go off on how INCREDIBLE the jewelry was. I was trying to take a pic but they caught me. They said I couldn't, bummed me out so bad. I particularly tried to take pictures of the candy colored jeweled encrusted skull rings that literally were 13,000-21,000 grand. All of the jewelry had classical goth look. And every incredible outfit on the mannequins captured exactly how I would dress myself. They had old vintage books, stuffed hens with deep turquoise feathers, everything a vintage rockstar would consider worth buying. One day I will purchase things there, that is my goal.

Rolland thank you for making me so happy! And also taking me to Maxfields and ruining me for life when it comes to other stores.

I just LOVE these two paintings. Sweet satisfaction. It's been so fun painting these days. I get to go to LA this upcoming week! EEeeek! I can't wait! Then off to Seattle!! I also haven't mentioned that I am auctioning 3 large paintings for a Gala. The theme of the paintings is A Midsummer's Night Dream. I had so much fun tonight. We went to Sundance for dinner with my dads cousin Sharon, and her sweet husband. He is from Prague and I must admit when I was younger he inspired in me the strong desire to go there above all other parts in Europe. I adore this couple. I think she is the classiest woman I have ever met. They both live such fascinating lives. I love to hear their stories. What a great evening.

I have been having my unsual circuit of obsessions lately. I must share them for heavens sakes. Just to document them at this time of my life. Here we go......................

1. I have been having the oddest obsession of LA's Chateau Marmont. I have this strange fantasy of meeting Winona Ryder there one day. I just love it's old mysterious gothic glamour. I must go there soon.

2. I can't get over how incredible Moby Grape is. One of my new favorite finds in music.

3. I have the deepest love for Blues Rock right now. John Lee Hooker and his brooding, sensual authentic blues songs just keep making my heart thump with intrigue. Dan Auerbach and his original rawness at capturing blues rock just right coming from a white man. He is literally the only white guy to pull of blues rock.

4. I am in Love with Tom Hardy. Hmmmm where have you been all my life. Just watched RocknRolla tonight. This guy was adorable in it. Yet wicked crazy tuff in Warrior. Talented SOB.

5. The fact that I just got a personal email from Vincent Gallo telling me he wants to visit the Brooks family and see my art. Oh man, that means I better come up with some sick art soon. I completely melt when I am near him aka Starstruckdomness.

6. I am obsessed with the fact that the days are ticking away till my first Art Gallery in Feb. Oh my heart, got to still get a lot done.

7. Obsessed with the fact that I just got Black Keys concert tickets. The only must see concerts that I could ever ask for is: Stevie Nicks, Black Keys, John Lee Hooker, and of course Lizt.

8. Obsessed with a special someone in LA. No one does it for me but him. That's the truth.

Not that anyone cares to know random little facts about little old me, but I love filling out questionnaires. I was reading the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen book called, "Influence." They have a section in the book of them answering the famous Proust questions. The Proust Questionnaires is one of the most famous ones of all times. So I wanted to show some pictures that are just wild and crazily fantastic. It might be too much for some out there. For one thing, I keep getting crap about my laptop key board and how people get shocked when they see pen and glitter all over. For pete sakes, I use this computer for everything especially when I am in the act of creating. So I gave in and really out did my self with making my laptop my own. It may freak out some people. But just last night I found out one of my favorite designers laptop computer is colorfully marked and personalized. So kiss my bum you guys, who think I'm loco. Gosh, some people have just been plain annoying.

I cant tell you how many notebooks I have that keep my so called little ideas recorded. It's so pathetic that I have so many that I cant even remember to use them all. But I do admire the artwork on the outside, and my thoughts and sketches on the inside. I LOVE color so these photos explode with random inspirations of color. Enjoy!

I'm reading for the first time "Alice in Wonderland." It is INCREDIBLE! Lewis Carroll was incredibly imaginitive. I relate to Alice so much. I love hearing her thoughts in the book, soooo much different then the movie. I am trying to create my own illustrations for the great novel. Hoping to capture what Lewis Carroll truly wanted/imagined.

So I cannot believe I did not mention that I got accepted into a Gallery showing in Seattle, Washington!! This is sooo huge for me. I was looking up the discription for one of my favorite words one day. It was the word RAW, it's one of the greatest most visual/non visual words in the english vocabulary. As I was looking it up I saw RAW: Natural Born Artists. I looked at it and was pretty excited for my new discovery. I applied and a couple of months later.... they call me and told me they LOVE my work. They asked if I had gone to school for my art and I told them heavens no. They said PERFECT! Thats what we want, untouched, raw, untainted! hehe. So all month I get to prepare for that, then I get to hit up my FAVORITE city: SEATTLE! To be honest when I paint for the Bijou Market it's not always what "I" want or like necessarily. For this Gallery showing it's what I WANT. (sigh of endless relief)

My LA trip was magical and wonderful. Commissions are finished. I got a tremendously HUGE ROLL of Watercolor paper from my dear special someone for Christmas. He said "Now you have NO excuse not to go BIG." I'm super intimidated to go bigger but thats the next step! Watch the short film below. I love it. It's a silk screener at work. I can't wait to incorporate silkscreening into my work one day.

Nostalgia of Rock

There is such a nostalgia captured in these cult Rock stars. I love the eclectic rhythms and melodies they create and embody. I can't help but be captivated in every photo, music video, and song that they seem to create. A true artist, to me, is someone who can capture intrigue upon all the five senses-- even the sixth sense. Andy Ant, T. REX, David Bowie, and even Kate Bush are the most nostalgic artists of our time. I want to keep finding more Rock stars that are intoxicating. Thank you Andy, Bowie, Kate, and (my Fav)T. Rex for not holding back one bit.

I leave for a quick getaway to LA tomorrow. I'm super excited. I don't know if I have mentioned before, but the thought of LA used to be completely superficial to me. Not so much anymore. I just LOVE my new room. Of course it's still in the works. For one thing, the movers lost my bed parts. So I cannot put together my one of kind Stickley carved bed. I paid sooo much money for, my OWN money. It makes my little heart so sad. BUT, other than that I couldn't be more happy to have my books, my paintings up, and some cozy corners to do art and write in my journal.

Can you count how many skulls are in my room?? There are a lot!

My own little sound system. My dad and I need to get a turntable for it. I cannot wait! I love learning the fascinations of my dads mind when it comes to building sound system set ups. He is quite amazing!

Just killing time on one of the last nights in this sweet kind little condo. Gosh, I am so happy to be leaving. I will miss my sweet little nephews, I adore them. But it is time. Tonight I happened to come across two of the greatest combos Ed Westwick + The Black Keys. Sometimes you can combine a person with a song and it makes that song or band that much more enticing. Ed Westwick with his raw looks mixed with The Black Keys and the ultra ruff untouched tunes, combine a great visual and auditorial stimulation upon my senses. I am LOVING the Black Keys new album, as always. El Comino, check it out please!

I laugh at the circumstances that I am in these days in order to paint. I have been starting to think this is how it will be forever. But no, I am not doomed to sit on floors and awkward places to paint and glitter anymore. My legs fall asleep and it hurts!! The pics below are documented for me so in the future when I will have my studio one day, I will laugh at the many awkward circumstances I have painted in. Here are some comments in my head as I glitter and paint in ruff moments: "I hope Matt and Dez doesn't find any ink any where!" "Great, my mom is going to freak!" "I hope Marin still wants to be my friend, after having found glitter in the cracks again," "How in the HELL does this INK get everywhere!!" "My lungs are officially coated with glittered after this project," "No one will notice ink on my skully blanket, few." "@$&!, $&*%!!!......The comments go on and on. 2 more days and I will have my art desk set up and a blank wall to paint, oh and my window seal seat to paint on. I cant wait!!

Alright I am going to talk about the topic of Sexual Chemistry. Holy cow. Can I just say it is alive and well, and I have tasted it in the highest sense. In fact it is still lingering from this past weekend. My very unique special friend came to see me. He stayed in Park City and I got to have the weekend with him. I haven't seen him for some time. I remember him being the best kisser I have ever kissed. But I took it for granted. I'm fascinated at how two individuals can feel something so unique and rare-- it's like magic. I would be driving and then he swiped my hair from my neck and moved it behind my shoulder. I would shutter with electricity. What is that??!! I haven't had that feeling since I was 19 with the one love of my life at the time. But this time around it was fascinating to see how my body would react and respond with butterflies and excitement over just small touches, or glances. Still am I melting over the feeling. I am pretty old for the Utah single world. And I have dated and kissed many many. Too ashamed to admit how many, but not one regret. I'm a lover of kissing and I don't mind one bit. I have learned so many things having dated the many I have dated. And Chemistry is a rare, and beautiful, magical thing. I have come to some huge epiphanies the last couple of days. You cannot force anything and if you try, you are in for a huge disappointment. Question is will I let this magical chemistry pass by again??? Time will tell.

Film of the Moment: Immortal Beloved

If you haven't come to appreciate the incredible passionate Ludwig Beethoven, then you must see the film "Immortal Beloved."One of my top 5 favorite films. Gary Oldman, (One of my lovers) embodies the great Ludwig, in the best sense. Gary you can do no wrong. I always try to watch documentaries or films on great artist's, composers, and writers. They seem to inspire me, and give me peak into how they obtained greatness. They all have such beautiful, sometimes heartbreaking stories. Ludwig Beethoven was a very passionate, depressed, angry yelling man. His story is a sad unforgettable one. But what I loved most about the film was that we get a peak into how Beethoven created/composed music. Below is a quote of him trying to open another's perspective of what music truly is. During this film I have goose bumps 80% of the time. It speaks to me, because of all the intense emotion through out the film.

Bijou Market Holiday 2011

The booth is up, and I hope what I am selling will bring joy to peoples little hearts. I worked extra hard this time, and just by dropping by today, I can tell it has already been worth it. I have sold half the items I put up. I am sooo grateful! My dads cousin, who I believe is the most classy women on the earth. Came all the way from Park City and bought three items. She bought two of my all time favorites. Her brother is a world known famous artist, and her taste is out of this world. So hearing that she made a special trip to purchase her own, made me the happiest girl in the world. I couldn't be more grateful for those of you who bought. I am putting it out into the cosmic void/universe that I am going to have my own studio one day, and I will do nothing but raise my dope children and paint custom cards, and murals for the world to see. There you have it. Oh, and I hope I will be filthy rich doing so. haha!

Little facts about my life so far. Things are going quite well in the art world of Dallas Brooks. I'm getting more and more commissions, let alone art jobs. I have the opportunity to create 4 large paintings for a Regional Ballet Company to auction off at. I am now officially selling art pieces at a very popular art boutique. This Bijou Market is around the corner which I hope will bring even more exposer. Just the right baby steps to help me get out into the world. There is definitely a process and I am loving the way it is turning out. Ahhhh, I'm single and I am not going to lie it feels so good. And let's just say I've got some crushes going on. Anderson COOPER, you make my heart pitter patter. Local crushes, no one is quite delivering. But it's so nice to not worry about that aspect in life. I am a little burned out in that department. I'll just enjoy the sexy Anderson Cooper in the mean time.

I must say that I am enjoying this time of the year. I can feel Christmas around the corner, the days are so short, with that bone chill in the air. And the mountain sorta turns to a candy pink, cause of the frosted snow. I am absolutely LOVING my new iPhone. I am starting to tweet. Someone suggested that I do so, they said you must if you're an artist. Haha I gave in. Probably cause I can't seem to put down my new sexy phone. The process of moving to a choice part of the world is happening very very soon. Can't wait for my new room and how to decor it. Thanksgiving, I am quite excited for, I get to go to Stein Erickson Lodge up in Park City. I'm sorta ruined for life with Thanksgiving experiences. I absolutely looooooove dining out. Last but not least, a very very unique and special friend is coming to visit me. This should be interesting. That's all for now. Btw I am soo into fairy tales the last couple of months, so I am drawing some darling Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and other fun images that make my heart happy for the Bijou Market.

Beauty Is This And That

This blog post is about superficial beauty only. Inner beauty will be another time/blogpost. Inner beauty is the highest beauty I personally think. But as of facial structures and aesthetics of the whole outer body image, I can't help but be fascinated by uniquely structured bodies and faces. I keep coming across photos of Frances Bean and her new thinned frame. Ummmm, she is fascinating to me. Her nose, her striking eyes, her dark presence is very interesting these days. I was having a convo with some girls talking about who was pretty and who is not. (Ugly I know) But most of them esteemed typical beauty which I could not relate to. There is typical beauty and there is unique beauty. I find that beauty comes in unpredictable ways. Under the surface beauty, meaning character and light; adds to beauty in a huge way. It's rare to find these days, sadly. But that's the best kind of beauty there is.

Creative Venting

Last night was one of the worst. I cant seem to be ALONE. I am a person who functions highly well by being alone. I like to hike alone, rollerblade alone, PAINT alone, read alone, walk alone, and eat alone. I'm a very independent person and I like it that way. Maybe thats why I am still not married. haha. Last night I was trying to get in the creative mode but people just kept interfering. And they think I'm crazy cause I cant draw when someone's in the room. Hells bells I cant! It's weird, it's like my back starts to feel irritated and then my space is violated. My artist friend made me feel so much better by telling me that it's a very hard thing to get into the creative process he said quote: "Yes, it's hard being an artist. Thats why most of them are dysfunctional and on the selfish side. As its so intimate and a closed off process." This made me feel so much better. I was starting to wonder what is wrong with me. In order to draw, I have to have just the right set up. New music in my ears, everything in order (paints, paper, water in cup, computer with image.... all in order) everything has to be organized and orderly around me, and last but not least no one around. Then does my creative process start to metabolize. I'm running out of time for the bijou market. I need to get away from everyone. I have so many great ideas that I hope will be unique and refreshing, cause let's just be honest I cant stand the Utah styles of art and decor. You will NOT be seeing that with my art work. Just saying. Sorry this blog post is a post of venting. I will mention my love for hot rollers thus why I posted pics of my hair. Good hair day despite the frustrations of being selfish artist.

Oh, to Paint!

I woke up this morning terribly frustrated with my abilities to paint. I have never been so tired of my style. The past few weeks I have been harboring feelings of "there needs to be progress."

I definitely know that I have not found my particular "art style" yet in my life. And I have been so stubborn to take art lessons from just anyone. I don't approve on just any art teacher. I have been praying for the right teacher whose style and technique I just respect and love to come into my life and educate me on beautiful techniques. I have always wanted the greatest artists of the past to come to me in my dreams at night and teach me how they approached painting/creating. I would only dream to learn from Picasso, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Klimt, Arcimboldo..... just to name a few. I have no particular style, I am so damn eclectic I want allllll styles to emerge. But until those dreams of being taught do emerge into my paintings/drawings, I need to find a great tutor. But in the meanwhile I will continue to study out my favorite artists. The process of moving to Midway is in the works. It's the most exciting part of the home building process. Yes I am going with the fam to Midway. I can't wait for it. We went to go check the house today, my sis and mom and I. It was a good time. A lot of reclaimed wood work is through out middle floor, reminds me a lot of Sundance style. So earthy and raw. I come from two incredible creators, my mom and dad. I was raised watching them build one home after another. Watching the creating process with each home. I love watching my parents collaborate on decor and details. I guess they are the reason for why I create, not in home building materials (thank heavens). I come from a family of artistic people, and they fascinate me.

I wasn't feeling too good today so I listened to my body and rested on my day off. I ended up watching Gossip Girl, for like 5 hours! So against my rules, but it was much needed. Can't tell you how much I LOVE THE CHUCK BASS. What is it about him?? I have never been so involved/protective with a T.V. character. My nephew ended up watching the last couple of hours with me.... I must say it was one of the funniest couple of hours of my life. Jordan, I love your guts. We laughed so hard at times. He is going to be one of my best friends as he gets older.

After having rested my not so well body, I took it out into the cold and had an adventure hike up Rock Canyon. It was a good one. My body felt so alive, it was super chilly and twilight. Ended the evening with some great people carving pumpkins and pizza. I love my life.

Halloween Ideas

So I cant quite figure out what to be for Halloween. I asked my little nephew, Sawyer what I should be. It was the cutest thing, he told me I should be Coraline! I love it. I'm definitely considering it. But if I cant find the right shade of a blue wig I may have to be a vampire (soooo typical) or David Bowie "Ziggy Stardust" version. Park City Getaway

Updates: The Park City outing so hit the spot. Got to hit up some fun stores, and explored the Scarecrow walk. Also had a Halloween party with the aunts, uncles, and cousins. Good convos, and yummy food. It was fun cause the neighbor hood where the condo was, was tucked away in such an incredible neighborhood. The homes all looked like they were from back east. My mom and I went for a walk at night to check out the neatest home all Halloweened out. It was magical. To add to that, I saw TWO foxes leap out in front of me. They both had the most big bushy tales. Couldn't have been more perfect Halloween walk.

So my family and I are staying up at a condo up Park City, which we do every October. It's one of my favorite things. Park City in the fall time is magical. I was able to hit up some art galleries, and my favorite bookstore, Dolly's Bookstore on Main Street. It's such a personable cozy bookstore. All of the books are the best editions and are most unique. It would be a dream to open my own charming book store one day. I was able to find a new treasure which so hit the spot for me. It's called PHANTASMAGORIA. It's a collaboration of all of the monsters, myths, and legends. It speaks of cornucopia's of mythical places, people, beings, and beasts. The illustrations are inspiring for me. I am always on the look for illustrations that inspire my art. I love this book already, I just educated myself on the so called "Sea of Milk"...... fascinating.

I don't know if any of you have seen the new trailer for the new version of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," but it's incredible. Super intense, but David Fincher is genius and this version is going to be sicky sick. The girl whom they chose to play "the girl with the dragon tattoo" fascinates me. They completely transformed her from her original look. And I must say she is oddly stunning. Nude/blonde eye brows, butchered black madness of hair, and original punk rocker essence. She is going to be badass. I also adore her real name, Rooney. I wonder why one is drawn to something or someone..... and Rooney I'm pretty stoked to see you evolve.

I am OBSESSED with this movie. I have no idea why it haunts me. I believe it couldn't have been captured in any better way. The film is perfection. Other then the painful hair style of Jane Eyre. But he, Edward, is incredible. I am in LOVE with this new actor. Such a man. Man, I find myself getting chills to Charlotte Bronte's intoxicating lines captured in the movie. The Bronte sisters are the most incredible writers known to man. Between this and Wuthering Heights, no romance truly delivers.

Cold, Sweet Stirs

A lot of interesting emotions are stirring inside of me these days. This picture (above) totally captures where I want to be. I love cold, cloudy beaches. There is something that totally captures what I feel in the picture above. I just want to linger on a cold misty beach and put my feet in the cold sand, and feel my cheeks turn ice cold. I love thinking and feeling and drinking it all in, in all my favorite elements. Between Northwest beaches and thick lush forests.... there is no other place I would want to be. One of my favorite writers these days is Kahlil Gibran, I found this qoute by him:

“Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.”

I got the chills reading this quote then I found out that Gibran stated it. He amazes me. I want all of his books.

I miss my trip to Oregon that I took last year. I did get my moment on a cold dark beach with my hair blowing in the wind. If only I could have them daily. Until then..... I will just pretend to be there again.

In Awe

It's been an interesting week. I already love how this season has started. Lot's of great people in my life, and the experiences that come with it. First off, I have to mention that literally skinned off my upper thigh/bum from roller blading. Yup, biffed it up. So brutal. My dad made my mom put cayenne pepper on it, which was not pleasant one bit. But has helped the healing process quickly. I walk retarded these days, but oh well. A good friend passed away which brought even more incredible experiences such as the most beautiful funeral I have ever been too. My sister was able to play her cello, which made me hysteric with tears. The funeral brought together some of my favorite people. Also, General Conference brought together my family up the canyon. Then I went on one of the most beautiful hikes of my life with my man. Why do I not bring my camera??! The tree's and mountains were magical. This morning was incredible as well. Had the best breakfast with friends whom I couldn't be more grateful for. We are all about creating uplifting experiences. I'm just amazed at life these days. Thanks to my uncle, I have some pics to document the fun trip up the canyon.

Fall Treats

Went to the bookstore with the mommocita today. We picked up our fall time reads to set the season off. We found some treasures suggested by some great readers. My brother Derek (who I think has the greatest literary taste in the world) suggested "The Devil in the White City." He says it's a good scare, based on true historic events. Hopefully I will get around to that one before Halloween, but I don't think it will happen this year. The other three are mine to read. Hopefully someone will be inspired to find another great Halloween read. Let me know if you do!

Donna Hay

Years back I started noticing a particular cooking magazine called Donna Hay, that is imported from Australia. The cover was always so beautiful, and the pages buttery soft. I was always consumed with it every time I would open it. I eventually started to collect them here and there. The price being so high, I couldn't justify buying every issue. They make the magazine slightly bigger and the pages slightly thicker, wanting the effect of a monthly cookbook. I have never come across a more tasteful delicious cooking magazine. The imagery of the food is simply intoxicating. Every photo is perfection. I have been ruined with cooking magazines and books since I found my Donna Hay mags. You all must check them out. My sister not knowing my love for the Donna Hay magazine, purchased a large cookbook by Donna Hay her self. A combination of alllll her recipes and photos to go with the experiences of the food. My sister made a apple pie from it with agave. The crust was so yummy, let alone the yummy apple insides. You could taste the flavors so well, with out too much sweetness. It was in it's most authentic form. That's what Donna Hay desires when creating food.

I love finding treasures.

I love this time of the year. The transition from a Indian summer into a crisp delicious fall. I already got some fall staple pieces that I have been wanting all summer. I got me some knee high black Dr. Martins, a somewhat similar Jim Morrison belt, a wine stained lipstick, and a the best looking flannel I have ever seen. So I got my clothes for the season. Now I'm ready to do some of my favorite traditions. Luckily my boyfriend is so darn similar. We like to read a fall book, and watch our favorite fall films. It's my last fall in Utah Valley... I am so glad haha. I just love the windy mornings and nights, and the smell of the leaves slowly transitioning. Here are some images of my favorite things:

Raw, Raw, Raw.

Lately I have been really into a certain way of eating. Certain foods just scares me. I have been really into foods in their most rare form. Their is something about untouched anything. And so I have been wanting the best foods put into my body. Even certain sweets have to be in their most natural form. I am not perfect at this, but I'm super glad that this desire keeps growing more and more. My dad who is the best example to me, never eats white flour, nor sugar. He has always ate super healthy, and I want to be just like him. My boyfriend reminds me of my dad, he is actually getting more and more into Raw foods. He drinks these delicious green drinks all the time. So last night Shawn and I went to the market, and he gave me the best recipe for a green drink. 1 Peach, 1 banana, spinach, kale, chia seeds. So I made it. Divine!! My body was loving me. I have been buying a certain green drink lately at this market and I couldn't be more addicted to it. I feel so much better eating this way. Also every tuesday I meet with my new friends who eat this way as well. We make a green drink and make something together like quiche' or sweet potatoe pancakes. I cant wait to know what we make next. I want to embrace this way of eating more and more through out my life. When I was little this way of eating was forced on me. No sugar in the house, wheat grass shots, vegetarianism, raw chocolates, homemade breads. I am glad my parents exposed me to being aware of what I put into my body. It truly makes a difference.
